Screen shot 2013-07-30 at 2.01.41 PMIf you’re like me, then you are a homebody with a penchant for home decor. After all, splurging on household items will not only give others a glimpse of your style when they walk into your home, but it will also make your home a place to be yourself.

  • For all those who love to experiment in the kitchen, bring back a classy, vintage feel, with these fun aprons that’ll have you feeling like Marilyn Monroe… if she liked to cook, that is.
  • Perhaps, you’ve had a long day, and all you want to do is clear your head with a nice bubble bath. Aromatic candles are a nice touch if you want to achieve that tranquil state.
  • Instead of piling up your bags, choose the pattern of Handy Hold All that you’d like and Voilà! It’ll be easier to pick out the perfect bag for your outfit, once they’re not all stacked on top of each other.
  • Memories that are picture perfect deserve to be framed in something elegant, such as these frames that double as vases.
  • Since I’m very conscious about “going green”, I feel guilty when I pick up a take-out menu from a restaurant, lose it, and then repeat the process, over and over again. A menu organizer is not only convenient for me, but also for the restaurants I seem to be taking too many menus from! It comes in handy when I have a “Girls’ Night In” and my friends are itching to order food as soon as they arrive.

Sometimes, the most useful gifts are books! Some people might have an affinity for writing, while others have a never-ending need for organizers. Use this gift guide to determine which book would be best!

The key to less stress? Organization. When I plan out my day in writing, I feel myself slowly becoming less overwhelmed by the tasks I have to accomplish. I also feel more secure knowing that all my important documents and information will be kept in a safe, retrievable place (especially when technology goes awry and I lose all my information!)

Ever have an idea and think, “I should write this down”? Idea logs and journals are perfect for the inspired, innovative minds that want to record and reflect on their ideas and experiences.

I have friends and family members who have specific diets (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.), as well as people who are just looking for  a new dish to cook. Cookbooks with the appropriate recipes would be perfect for them! Books like “The Modern Girl’s Guide to Life” are fun and relatable gifts. These guide books provide a mixture of humor and insightful advice that the audience can identify with.

Pregnancy manuals and other preparation books are great gifts to give to a couple who is expecting. Although I consider my mom a “Supermom”, I could never undermine the great job my dad has done in raising me. Give books that apply to both parents! After the baby is born, help document precious moments with scrap-booking kits.

Giving a book as a gift is a thoughtful gesture. I remember I once told my roommate how I like to draw in my leisure time. Upon my return to school after winter break, she had surprised me with a sketchbook. I was touched that she remembered something I said in passing, and I still consider it one of the best gifts I’ve received.

Have Your Cake and Wear It Too

cake beauty productsI remember the days when receiving bath gels and other beauty products for Christmas was like the worst thing ever. It was such an impersonal gift and generic gift. That’s probably because back then the selection was so slim (Bath and Body Works, and lame Walmart gifts set were pretty much the norm). These days there are so many great brands and products on the market that anyone would flip over.

Right now I am flipping over Cake. Not the food, although I flip over that too, but the beauty brand. Cake makes some of coolest and most sought after products. Manhattanite has some brand new products that you may just want to give this holiday season, or possibly just get for yourself:

> Cake Satin Sugar Multi-Tasking Must Haves for Darker Hues ($32)

> Cake Satin Sugar Multi-Tasking Must haves for Lighter Hues ($32)

> Cake Winter Wonderlips Limited Edition Lip Gloss Trio ($28)

> Cake Jacky Frost Limited Edition Bath & Shower Bubbles ($24)

Shopping for Those Tiny Tots

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Lets get one thing straight before I begin this post. I am “tot” free. I don’t have a tot and (right now) I don’t want a tot. However, tots (babies, small people, whatever you call them) need style too.  If you are anywhere near my age (upper 20’s) — all of your friends are having babies and all of those babies need gifts.

Luckily there are some really cute products for babies out there (I am not talking diaper Genies, my friends). Believe it or not, buying baby stuff for other people is actually kinda fun. You get to say “awww, how cute” and all that other fun stuff without actually having a baby of your own. Yay!

I took a cruise (after making sure no one was looking) around the baby department on Manhattanite and found some pretty adorable things:

Cassette Onesie for $24, Sleep Cozy for $30, Flat Out Bear for $50, Love Me Baby Me gift set for $104.95
