I know it’s a little early to be thinking about Spring fashion, but I saw a ton of tie dye on the catwalk and it never hurts to buy something you know you can wear next season too! While Manhattanite has lots of cool options, like jeans, hoodies and dresses, I am super fond of this Cecelia De Bucourt top that somehow managed to mix feminine, tough and boho all at the same time!

Designed by childhood friends Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dahan, celebrity fans include Michelle Trachenburg, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel and more! The coats have been featured on many shows, most notably “Gossip Girl” multiple times!
Some of my favorite pieces are now on sale for 30% off:
The removable scarf and belt on this wool coat is to die for!
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE needs a cute leather jacket! This leather bomber is just the thing!
A military-style coat is just what you need to update your wardrobe for fall!!

Wardrobe Staple: Ripped Leggings
Monday, July 27th, 2009Authored by: rebel_chic

Afraid to ruin or over-do the ripped legging look by d-i-y? Your worries (and mine, for that matter) are over because David Lerner’s subtle version of the ripped leggings will solve all your ripped or slashed related fashion dilemmas! These leggings have already got the seal of approval from hollywood celebrities such as Megan Fox, Halle Berry and Nicky Hilton.
Sturdy enough to wear as pants and not overly ripped to make you look like some homeless person, these leggings would easily fit into anyone’s wardrobe. Be sure to pair them with your favourite tunic tops and especially denim shorts for Fall. I like it worn with the gorgeous Skia Gia Tube top especially since it provides a refreshing feminine take on the tough look of these leggings.
Fluxus’ burnout tunic would be a good choice for a more grungy 90’s look which is the trendy look to do at the moment. Complete with an old coat and some cool black leather boots, they would make a great fall/winter outfit as well.
Last but not least, my favorite piece to wear with these leggings are Siwy’s Camilla cut-off shorts in Riot which features a gold splatter paint effect all over. The metallic accent on these shorts is a marriage made in heaven with the rips on these tights.
Since these ripped leggings aren’t as drastically done as most d-i-y end products would look, they actually are just as versatile as your regular black leggings. This is definitely one of the best investments of the current and next few seasons!
Vita Summer Bangles
Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009Authored by: The Daily Obsession

For the most part, I love the idea of bangles. Classic. Versatile. Chic.
But when it comes to wearing those little gold circles, I run into many issues such as the sound they make clanking up against each other, how they make a mess in my jewerly box, and generally- I don’t enjoy having a thousand things on my arm.
But then I discovered these Classic Original Bangles from Vita which I LOVE. The leather band means no jingling as I’m typing. The distinctive look means I only need one or two to create a nice statement. And the white/silver/gold color palette makes this the perfect accessory for summer. Plus, each band is made with leather and plated in 24karat gold and retails for $66. It’s like an investment without having to pay the prices!
In the Dog House
Thursday, July 9th, 2009Authored by: Ashe Mischief
I have a cat.
Sadly, I do not have a dog as of now, because there is a cruel side of me that would enjoy dressing it up in little outfits. I tried it on one of my childhood dog’s. It was winter, and she loved wearing a fleece coat.
Instead, I often think about dressing up my cat. Since she’s a Maine Coon, she’s pretty large. I think she could easily fit in to small dog clothing. Sadly, there is a boy, a boy who wants to prevent this cruelty.
I kind of think he has no sense of humor, and he wants to ruin all of my fun.
Because really, wouldn’t a cat look GREAT in a taco costume? In a few weeks, there will be nothing to stop me from putting Miss Kitten in a taco costume, and I am counting down the days.
Summer Cardigan Love
Thursday, July 2nd, 2009Authored by: Jennine

By the time summer rolls around, you think it’s time to move the sweaters to the attic. But the truth is, there are a few cozies you’ll need for those cool summer nights, walks among the shady trees, and even the overzealous movie theatre AC. Burr. Even if you’re on your way to a holiday in Hawaii, you’ll need a light cardigan to get you through a restaurant dinner (speaking fom experience… air conditioning is crazy there!).
I have this long grey cardigan that’s a staple in my wardrobe. I must wear it several times a week, all year around. That can’t be healthy, but it’s so good to have a piece of clothing loved so well. Here at Manhattanite, we have a selection of great cardigans, especially grey ones as they tend to be the most versaitle, and basically go with everything from a sexy summer dress to lounging around the house. Here’s my favorites for this summer:
- Lauren Conrad Cici Burnout Wrap in Silver $176.00 - Who says cardigans have to be like Mr. Rogers… though this is technically a ‘wrap’ it fits well in the cardigan category, stylish and unique, this cardigan will dress up a tank top and jeans like nothing else.
-
Three Dots Herringbone Capelet $132.00 - This piece is perfect for a summer/autumn transition as it’s completely layerable and has a great silhouette to bring comfort and style to any outfit.
-
Fluxus Long Tab Cardigan in Heather Grey $99.00 -More along the lines of your traditional cardigan, I really love this pieces simplicity and style, you can go conservative or stylish depending on your mood, and this style particularly works well with belts…
-
Fluxus Bias Wrap in Heather Grey $108.00 - One of my favorites this cardigan/wrap is both cozy and stylish, I just love the swing of it!
Punctuating with Purple…
Wednesday, July 1st, 2009Authored by: Ashe Mischief
I’m kind of crazy about purple right now– bright, vibrant, & bold violets. So when I came across the CC Skye Mimi Bag, I swooned a bit. Make that a lot. The shape is stunning, the color is perfect, and so timely for many seasons… it quickly went on my “Birthday Wish List.” I paired it with the Tolani Zig Zag Scarf, another pieces that can move throughout the seasons…

I love the idea of these pieces coupled with a huge floral headpiece (because when it comes to head pieces, the bigger it is the closer to heaven…) and nice solid basics with interesting details.
Stumbling on Style: Tolani Scarves
Monday, June 22nd, 2009Authored by: Ashe Mischief
I recently won a Tolani scarf on a blog giveaway. Now, to be honest, this meant absolutely nothing to me, as I tend not to follow trends so much, and I just expected a colorful, decent quality scarf from the giveaway.
I was in for a shock when I received the scarf. It was luscious and soft to the touch, and the colors were vibrant and beautiful. Much more so than I expected, and it fits in with my wardrobe beautifully.
Then I went to work. One of my hip, scarf-loving girl friends was like, “I love your scarf! OMG, is it a Tolani?” to which I replied, “Um… that sounds like the name that was on the label.” I proceeded to unwrap my scarf to confirm. She then told me that I was, in fact, wearing the hip scarf of Hollywood’s elite around my neck (and the “reasonable” price of them). Let’s not forget she did tell me she’d be plotting how to steal it from me. In many ways, I was confounded that I was wearing a $99 scarf on my neck; the most I’d ever paid for one before was $15.
Despite that, I love my scarf. It’s posh and luxurious, but doesn’t feel so delicate that I’m scared to wear it. I’m more excited about the collection of that Manhattanite has, and I look forward to seeing more of these beautiful pieces in stock.
