If You Can Only Make One Purchase This Season…

.. make it the Siwy Hannah Slim Crop Jeans in Tambourine.

siwy_tambourine

They are new from Siwy’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection and are the most ideal contrasting piece for the season, lightly distressed and bleached to perfection. Throw them on with any of your old t-shirts or tanks and you already have yourself the “grunge-y” look. However, if you seek more depth, loading up on jewellery is definitely the way to go. It is dead easy to make the look your own with these jeans and you don’t even have to give much thought to your outfit which is precisely what the grunge look is kind of about.

Most of us here blogging for Manhattanite are quite partial to Siwy denim I suppose, seeing that we frequently talk about their products in our posts. Don’t just take it from us though, you can see the real life examples of why they are worth every penny from all your favourite hollywood celebrities.

This pair of Siwy Hannahs in Tambourine, however, is definitely the IT jeans of the season if there is one!

Hi Manhattanites! I’m FreshJess, a Seattle lifestyle blogger with a penchant for keeping stylish while I’m on the go and making things happen in this beautiful city. I’m honored to be among such great, inspirational ladies here on the Manhattanites blog and look forward to sharing my style with you.

I’m so excited to transition into fall, and in Seattle we always have to be ready for extremely variable weather conditions during this time. In addition to carrying my umbrella and sunglasses everywhere, here are a few fall essentials I’ve found thanks to Manhattanites. I am all for sexy & sassy basics sprinkled with bright splashes of color!

FallEssentials

Clockwise from top left:

  • David Lerner Organic Cap Sleeve Pocket Tee: You know how it gets cold & rainy outside, but when you step indoors it’s way too hot for your jacket? That’s when this soft & flowy tee shines.
  • Siwy Hannah Slim Crop Jean in Wet Jet: These pants will look fab with anything and everything. Riding boots & blazer in the day, stilettos & sequined top at night…imagine the possibilities!
  • Tolani Braided Scarf: I love the color & braided detail of this scarf. It’s like bringing the last of sunny days along with me into the fall.
  • Mackage Quinn Coat: The high neckline, plaid & button detail make this the perfect coat for the young, professional style maven.
  • CC Skye Mimi Bag: This bag brings a ray of sunshine to our many cloudy days ahead. Love!
  • KRMA Dean Leather Jacket: Worn with the Siwy Hannah & a pair of red stilettos, it’s easy to channel Sandra Dee with this hot little jacket number.

A whole lotta leather for fall

Leather

Confession: I have an old, designer knock-off leather hoodie from Old Navy scored for about $50 on Ebay, probably 4 years ago. The leather isn’t supple, buttery or any of the adjectives that usually get my mouth watering, but it does its duty, the perfect outwear for that summer dress as well as those black skinnies and shimmery top. Even better, it has started to degrade so that the brown flecks show at the elbow, turning it into something uniquely mine.  I have grown to love this jacket, it’s not a piece I worry about spilling a little wine on, or shoving into the bottom of a bag with god knows what lurking in its depths.  Plus, I’ve worn it on some pretty Important Life Events, so it has sentimental value.

However, this homage to “the little knock-off that could” does nothing to satiate my lust for a real lux leather bomber jacket of my own. Upgrading from “does the job” to a really well-made, so soft you want to wear it to bed leather jacket is a dream of mine. Currently,  I have my eye on this gunmetal leather jacket as well as the more traditional black bomber pictured above.

Like the LBD or the trench, the white t-shirt or whatever other fashion staples make it on the quintessential List, I wholeheartedly add leather jacket. It’s a year-round must-have, yet a decidedly appropriate investment for fall. Trust Ms. Amos (and me) on this one, ladies.

Admiring Erin Fetherston

I’d been admiring Erin Fetherston’s most recent short film, Birds of a Fether and have been enchanted with her whimsical, girlish style. I love the idea of finding pieces with the same similar aesthetic, but a more affordable cost.

A whimsical dress by Betsey Johnson (for $108/down from $360!). It’s perfect for following that bird. Pair with pretty black patent pumps (or adorn them with sequins and glitter with an extra special kick!).

This plum Lauren Conrad Dress is versatile and great for customizing. It’d be perfect paired with a black velvet bow belt or pinned to the bodice.

Isn’t it fun when you can be sassy without saying a single word? The  Lauren Moshi Lips Pocket V-Neck Dress in Black does just that with its casual cotton and rayon jersey black dress adorned with a prominent set of pouty lips. Style it with some liquid leggings, or solid ones with a twist, like these David Lerner Black Leggings with 7″ Gold Zipper. Throw on some funky, chunky wedges, like the oh…Deer! Valley in Coral and you’ll definitely be striding in ultra chic, cheeky, style.
