Animal Instinct

The other day I was having an after work chat and cocktail with style guru and TV host Lloyd Boston and he tipped me off to start looking for animal print as it is going to be huge this fall.  But it’s not going to be the typical  leopard print heels. This fall, Lloyd said, you’d have to go big or go unusual.

What does that mean?  Look for something unexpected and take a risk instead of the safe way to wear animal. A quick  browse around the new stock on Manhattanite unveiled that the shop offers a variety of options to wear animal prints from  accessories to dresses to unexpected t-shirts.  Below, I show you my favorite picks!

Tolani Animal Print Scarf in Reptile

scarf1

This silk and pashmina wrap comes in an animal print that is not all that common- reptile. The all over B/W print makes it an easy match against a palette of black, grey, or white. Add an additional pop of color for a super sophisticated, pulled together look.

Lauren Moshi Ponti De Roma Peacock Scarf with Crystal

For something even more unusual, check out this peacock scarf by celeb fave Lauren Moshi. Her one-of-a-kind scarves are limited edition and hand drawn making them true collector pieces.  Aside from the amazing print, I love how the peacock is set against a background of subtle tonal stripes.

Lauren Moshi Owl Pocket Dress in White

Speaking of birds, I’m also in love with another one of Lauren Moshi’s designs- the owl t-shirt dress. Another unexpected flash of animal elevates a comfy tshirt dress into a true fashion statement.  Pair with boots and tights over a sweater during the fall/winter or with t-strap sandals for summer evenings.

J.J. Winters Croco Leather Clutch in Blue

This bright blue clutch looks striking against any outfit and the croco adds an ultra luxe touch to an already sophisticated piece. Also perfect for all seasons, day or evening.

Linea O Tube Dress in Leopard Print

If you’re going to wear leopard, this sexy number is the only way to do it.  I’m obsessed.

And don’t forget your most important accessory when it comes to wearing animal- confidence!

  1. I LOVE animal print. My favorite is leopard. I also have a horse dangly-like necklace, and an owl charm. It’s so fun!
